PriceLens ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the PriceLens mobile application ("App"). Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not use the App.

By using PriceLens, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Location data: When you use the "Find it cheaper nearby" feature, we access your device's approximate location to identify your current city and country. We request your permission before accessing location data. Location is processed only at the moment of the request and is not stored on our servers long-term.
Scan data: When you scan an item, we collect the item name, price, currency, country, city, store type, and the AI-generated verdict. This data is stored anonymously in our database to improve price accuracy for all users. It is not linked to your identity unless you have created an account.
Account data (optional): If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address and authentication provider (Apple Sign In or Google Sign In). This is used solely to save your trips and scans across devices.
Usage data: We collect anonymous usage events (e.g. briefing viewed, scan completed, paywall shown) to understand how the App is used and to improve it. This data is not linked to your identity.
Device data: We collect basic device information including app version for debugging and crash reporting purposes only.
Purchase data: If you subscribe to PriceLens Pro, your purchase is processed by Apple. We receive confirmation of your subscription status through RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your payment card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide the PriceLens price verdict and local price intelligence service
To build an anonymised crowdsourced price database that improves accuracy for all users
To identify cheaper alternatives near your current location when requested
To save your trips and scans if you have an account
To manage your Pro subscription and entitlements
To send relevant push notifications such as scan reminders and streak alerts (you may opt out at any time)
To analyse aggregate usage patterns and improve the App
To comply with legal obligations

3. Lawful Basis for Processing (GDPR — EU/EEA Users)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide the App and its features to you
Legitimate interests: Anonymous analytics and price database improvements that benefit all users
Consent: Location access and push notifications, which you may withdraw at any time
Legal obligation: Where we are required to process data to comply with applicable law

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to any third parties. We share data only with the following service providers who help us operate the App, each bound by data processing agreements:

Supabase — secure database and authentication hosting
Google Cloud AI — AI price analysis. Only item names and prices are sent for analysis. No personal identifiers are included in these requests.
RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management
Apple / Google — authentication when you use Apple Sign In or Google Sign In
Expo / EAS — app build and over-the-air update delivery

5. Data Retention

Anonymous scan data is retained to power the price database and improve accuracy over time. If you create an account, your personal data (email address, trips, scans linked to your account) is retained until you request deletion. You can request full deletion of your account data at any time by emailing pricelensapp@gmail.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
Objection: Object to processing of your personal data
Portability: Request your data in a portable format
Restriction: Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances
Withdraw consent: Withdraw consent for location access or push notifications at any time via your device Settings

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what personal information we collect, delete your personal information, opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information), and non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. 8. Children's Privacy

PriceLens is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at pricelensapp@gmail.com and we will delete such information promptly.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational security measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), Row Level Security (RLS) on all database tables, and secure third-party authentication via Apple Sign In and Google Sign In. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Push Notifications

PriceLens may request permission to send you push notifications including scan reminders, streak alerts, and re-engagement messages. We send a maximum of one notification per day. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's Settings app without affecting your use of the App.

11. Third-Party Services and Links

The App may open third-party services such as Google Maps. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services and encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

12. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes have been posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
